Readathon - Hour 16

I finished another book and I think that's it for me, SO TIRED.  It was so nice just spending the day reading and, while I didn't make my 1500 page goal, I got pretty damn close!  Maybe I'll have time in the morning before the Readathon ends to squeeze a few more pages in.

Readathon - Hour 15

Currently Reading: Forever with You by Jennifer Armentrout

Thoughts: Wow, this really gets better and better!  Though it started out pretty light and fairly undramatic, the drama has really piled on as the book has gone on.  I'm really loving it!

Thoughts: I'm still really, really loving this book!  Steph and Nick are so freakin' cute together and watching their relationship develop is just really a joy.

Readathon - Hour 13

Currently Reading: Forever With You by Jennifer Armentrout

Thoughts: I'm really liking this so far, maybe my favorite so far today!  I've always had a soft spot for this series and I hadn't really warmed to Steph in prior books, but this book has really made me like her!

Readathon - Hour 12

Currently ReadingForever With You by Jennifer Armentrout

Thoughts: I haven't started yet!  Finally finished with the Shayla Black book (which wasn't my favorite).  Taking a quick exercise break before starting on book #4!

Readathon - Hour 11

Currently Reading: Wicked for You by Shayla Black

Thoughts: The action is finally picking up but the heroine constantly jumping to wrong conclusions is driving me crazy.  Listen when people are trying to explain things to you, girl!

Pages read this hour: 69

Total Readathon pages: 905

Readathon - Hour 10

Currently Reading: Wicked for You by Shayla Black (still!)

Thoughts: I'm starting to feel like this is unnecessarily long.  I mean, I like it, but let's move this story along.  Hopefully I'll finish this hour, but I'm thinking it might be the next.

Pages read this hour: 73

Total Readathon pages: 836

Readathon - Hour 9

Currently Reading: Wicked for You by Shayla Black

Thoughts: It's moving along a little slow and some of the character bickering is getting a bit old.  I still like it though and I'm curious to see how it turns out!

Pages read this hour: 69 (I'm distracted ugh)

Total Readathon pages: 763

Readathon - Hour 8

Currently Reading: Wicked for You by Shayla Black

Thoughts: I'm enjoying it so far!  Most of what I've read has been a flashback, but I just got through all of it, so I know the rest of the book (or at least most of it) takes place in the present.  Let's get this story moving along!

Readathon - Hour 7

Thoughts: Finished another book, YAY!  I went back to romance again for the next one, this one decidedly more steamy than the other romance I've read today.  I've read all of the previous books in this series, so I've been anxious to read this one, too.  So far, so good, but I'm only 16 pages in.

Total Readathon pages: 607

Readathon - Hour 6

Currently Reading: Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix

Thoughts: It's pretty good, but I think I was expecting it to be better.  It is entertaining and I'm more than halfway through, so I'll keep going.  I think this is something that would be much scarier to watch than it is to read.

Pages read this hour: 90

Total Readathon pages: 516

Readathon - Hour 5

Currently Reading: Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix

Thoughts: My eyes are getting heavy, so I'm taking a break for the rest of the hour to eat something and hopefully wake up!  I'm enjoying this so far, it's not the best book ever, but it's entertaining.  I'm hoping the storyline starts moving along soon!

Pages read this hour: 54

Total Readathon pages read: 426

Readathon - Hour 4

Currently Reading: Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix

Thoughts: I finished a book, hooray!  I'm only 24 pages into Horrorstor, but I'm enjoying it so far.  It's doing a pretty good job at character building, now I just need to get to the plot!

Pages read this hour: 106

Total Readathon pages read: 372

Readathon - Hour 3

Currently Reading: You're the Earl That I Want by Kelly Bowen

Thoughts: Almost finished!  We're getting to all of the angsty romance stuff (my favorite part!) and, with the mystery solved, the final battle is likely right around the corner.  YAY!

Pages read this hour: 95

Total Readathon pages read: 266

Readathon - Hour 2

Currently Reading: You're the Earl That I Want by Kelly Bowen

Thoughts: I'm still really enjoying this!  The banter between the hero and heroine is delightful and the mystery definitely keeps things interesting.  I may have to go back and read the other two books in this series.

Readathon - Hour 1

Currently ReadingYou're the Earl That I Want by Kelly Bowen

Thoughts: I'm really enjoying this so far!  I received this in one of my many book subscription boxes and I've never read the author before, but I really like her.  The heroine is spunky and brave, maybe even braver than the hero himself.  There's also a mystery, which is always great in a historical romance.  I've found that good historical romance authors are hard to find sometimes, so I'm glad to have found a new one!

Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon Here We Go!

Reading is one of my greatest joys in life, everyone who knows me, knows this about me.  I'm a fast reader and go through books quickly, but only because I make the time to do so.  In a normal day, I'm generally only reading before work, reading before bed and, if I'm reading something I particularly enjoy, I might make the time to read after dinner for an hour or so.

But life gets busy.  Rarely ever have I had a full day to sit and read ALL DAY.  Each time Dewey's readathon has come along, I've had plans for the day or, at the very least, things that I needed to get done.  But, when I saw it creeping around the corner again, I decided I'm going to make time this year.  I'm going to clear my schedule and I'm going to do it.  So, here we are.

Do I plan to go the full 24 hours?  No.  I'm 31, I can't pull all-nighters like I used to when I was younger.  Plus, I'm just getting over being sick, there's no way I'm going to be able to stay up past midnight.  But I'm certainly going to try to go as long as I can!

Direct from the readathon website, a few questions to answer:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

Michigan!  It's very cold here today, so I'll most definitely be glad to stay inside.

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

There's a couple books that I've wanted to read for awhile I haven't gotten to yet.  The first is Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra & Dhonielle Clayton and the second is Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix.  I also have a book subscription box arriving in the mail today, so I'm hoping there's something great in there that I could easily read today!

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

I've got a bag of cheese popcorn just waiting for me to open later!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

I'm Nicole, I'm 31 and I'm a tax accountant.  I'll be a CPA once the state processes my paperwork and sends me my license (hopefully soon!).  I love to read all kinds of books, from romance to YA to horror to mystery.  I'll read whatever!

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

This is my first year!  I'm looking forward to making a huge dent in this TBR pile and to just spending a day doing something that I love so much.

That's all for now!  I'll be posting updates as I go along during the day.  I'm hoping to get at least 1500 pages read, so we'll see how it goes!

I'm Back!

I know, I know, it's been awhile.  Life tends to catch up with you sometimes and some things (this blog for instance) tend to take the back seat.  My love for reading, however, is something that's never wavered and I'm ready to get back to reviews again!

First off, my reading tastes have evolved over the last year or two, so you'll be seeing a lot more than just romance reviews around here.  I've developed a love for book subscription boxes and that, in turn, has expanded my reading horizons more than a little!  There will still be romance reviews, but you'll also see some YA, fantasy, horror, thrillers, pretty much everything (except for historical war novels.  You will never ever see those because nothing would put me to sleep faster).

Another reason that I'm starting this up again is that I'm going to be participating in Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon this weekend.  I'll be posting reading updates and such as I go along and I'll TRY to stay up the whole 24 hours, but, let's be real, that might be wishful thinking.  I may have to think of some creative ways to stay awake.  If anyone wants any more info on the readathon (which starts on Saturday), click on over to here.

So, anyways, keep an eye on this blog!  You may see a review or two before the Readathon on Saturday!
